In this conversation we're talking, “Living with Black Girl Magic, HIV, and Chronic Optimism,” with public speaker and HIV justice advocate Kamaria Laffrey! While World AIDS Day has just passed by, the conversation about life with HIV continues.
Laffrey first discovered that she was HIV-positive at just 21 years old, just after the birth of her daughter. She was forced to navigate the challenges of a new, chronic diagnosis and being a new mother at the same time.
17 years later, Laffrey has worked tirelessly to serve those living with HIV, collaborating with dozens of organizations and advocacy groups like The SERO Project and Positively Fearless with Janssen. She also founded the community-based organization emPOWERed Legacies.
